Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been encouraged to consider leaving Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
Cavani struggled for fitness in the early stages of the campaign, and has since been forced to settle for making cameo appearances from the bench in two of his three appearances before the international break.
Former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet isn’t convinced his fellow Uruguayan’s situation will improve, after he was left on the bench for his country’s recent clashes against Colombia and Argentina respectively.
Poyet believes leaving Old Trafford could be the best option for Cavani at this stage of his career.
“He was unlucky, because without Ronaldo coming in, he was playing as the main striker,’ Poyet told talkSPORT.
“The decision of Juventus, Man City getting involved, incredibly went against one person especially – and that was Cavani.
“Maybe he should move in January.
“From the outside, I don’t know him, but if I was him, seeing how things are now, and seeing him not getting to 90 minutes for the national team because he’s not playing – maybe.”
