Emergency services are on the scene following a crash in Tameside this afternoon (October 14).
The incident is causing significant disruption in Ashton-under-Lyne after forcing a major road to shut in both directions.
Several bus services have been diverted or cancelled, and traffic is building around the M60.
A635 Manchester Road has been shut completely following the collision between William Street and the M60 junction 23 slip road.
The clockwise exit slip road has also been closed since around 2pm this afternoon.
Emergency services are in attendance.
Congestion has built to Stockport Road and a number of bus services have been diverted.
Traffic monitoring website Inrix states: “A635 Manchester Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between M60 J23 (Ashton Under Lyne) and William Street (near the Bp Petrol Station).
“Congestion to Stockport Road as traffic diverts.
“The road was closed around 14:10, there is no access from the exit slip of the clockwise M60 onto Manchester Road.”
A Stagecoach spokesman added: “Routes 216,219 & 347. Long delays expected due to the closure of Manchester Rd / William St.
“Severe traffic in and around this area. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.”
