US teenager Kyle Rittenhouse cleared of shooting two dead during police brutality protests

He was cleared of two further charges, attempted homicide and recklessly endangering safety.

Mr Rittenhouse, now 18, has maintained he acted in self-defence.

The case has become a flashpoint in the debate over gun rights and vigilantism since the country was roiled by racial injustice and anti-police brutality protests following the murder of George Floyd.

An overwhelmingly white jury acquitted Rittenhouse, now 18, after almost 3.5 days of deliberation.
