Manchester United fans agree over Michael Carrick tactics after Jadon Sancho scores first goal

Manchester United supporters are making the same point after watching their £72.9million summer signing Jadon Sancho open his goalscoring account.

The 21-year-old has struggled for form since his high-profile switch from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

However, after being retained in the United line-up as caretaker manager Michael Carrick took charge for the first time this afternoon, it was the England forward who rounded off a 2-0 victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also on target against Villarreal as United, who sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning, sealed Champions League Group F progression with a game to spare.

Sancho netted 50 goals and laid on 64 assists during four seasons with Dortmund but it’s taken the former Manchester City academy player 15 appearances to register his first attacking return for his new club.

Here are a selection of social media comments from United fans about that 90th-minute strike…

@DavidHunt234 said: “Funny that he’s good in the position he played that made him worth £70m plus.”

@Odogwu_Nomso posted: “One of the best players on the pitch. What a player.”

@CormieD123 added: “Amazing what happens when he is played on the right-hand side.”
