Strictly’s AJ vomited in pain after suffering horror injury leaving final in doubt

Strictly Come Dancing contestant AJ Odudu was in tears as she told how her place in the final was thrown into doubt after suffering a horror injury.

TV presenter AJ couldn’t hold back her emotion as she spoke about her injury on the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.

She cried as she told host Janette Manrara how she had been excited about her preparing for last three dances for the final with her dance partner Kai Widdrington and how the pain came on suddenly after training on Monday.

Welling up on the sofa she said: “I’m upset because I’ve suffered an injury. I don’t know when it happened.

“But essentially I’ve got issues with my joints.

“I’ve suffered some traumatic injury to my ligaments, there’s a lot of inflamation and I can’t pintpoint when it happened during training.

“In fact we felt really positive after training on Monday, I felt fine.

AJ is hopeful

“But the pain came on so suddenly and acutely that I projectile vomited.”

She explained that despite using crutches to stand, she’s still hoping to make the final.

“I’m unable to stand on my right foot and I can’t stand up wiothout crutches and I’m really upset, I’m sorry,” she told Janette.

“I’m upset because we were so excited on Monday. We’ve got three amazing dances that we really, really want to perform and I know I’m getting upset but I am genuinely remaining hopeful.”

She added: “I’m surrouned by a really great medical team who are trying their best to get me back on my feet and of course I’ve got Kai who is really holding me together physically and emotional right now.”

She was applauded for her grit by pro dancer Janette who said: “If there’s a fighter in the final it’s you my love.”
