A man has been charged with the attempted rape of a teenage girl in woodland in Tameside.
Police were called to a report that she had been assaulted on Sunny Bank Vale in Droylsden, near to Greenside Lane.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said Kevin Lee Martin, 38, of no fixed abode, has been charged with one count of attempted rape.
He’s due to appear at Manchester magistrates court tomorrow, Monday, the force added.
In a statement released on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police said: “Kevin Lee Martin, 38, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted rape.
“He has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday December 20.
“Shortly after 3pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021, officers were called to a report that a female had been assaulted on Sunny Bank Vale, Droylsden, near to Greenside Lane.
“Police attended and enquiries established that, at around 2.45pm, the female had been walking through a wooded area of Sunny Bank Vale when she was assaulted by a man.
“The young woman – who is in her late teens – fought back and the man subsequently fled the scene.”
No further details have been released by the force.
