Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has asked for his daughter to pay his legal bills despite her no longer having to give him financial support following the end of her conservatorship
Britney Spears’ conservatorship came to an end in November – but that has not stopped her dad, Jamie Spears, from trying to get money out of the songstress.
The pop star, 40, had been under the tight control of Jamie and co-conservators since 2008 until a judge ruled that she could be responsible for her personal life and her money.
Due to the conservatorship coming to an end, the hitmaker is now able to make her own medical, financial and personal decisions for the first time in 13 years.
However, despite Britney having no obligation to support her father he has called for her to continue paying for his legal fees.
And after Jamie made the petition to seek the expenses, Britney’s lawyer hit out out the Toxic singer’s father and called his hope for more financial support from the star was “an abomination.”
Mathew Rosengart told The Sun : “The conservatorship has been terminated and Mr Spears was suspended ignominiously. Under the circumstances, his petition is not only legally meritless, it is an abomination.
“Britney poignantly testified about the pain her father caused her and this only adds to it. This is not what a father who loves his daughter does.”
When requesting that Britney forks out for fees, Jamie’s lawyers stated he protected his daughter while she was under the conservatorship and kept “opportunistic and wholly self-interested parties at bay”.
According to legal documents, seen by PA, Jamie’s lawyer says he requests funds from her to make the procedure come to a close faster.
“Jamie seeks the Court’s confirmation, authorisation, and direction for the Estate of Britney Jean Spears…to make payments on account to Jamie’s attorneys participating in proceedings concerning Jamie’s ongoing fiduciary duties relating to the winding up of the Conservatorship… of Britney,” it stated.
“Prompt payment on account of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees is necessary to ensure the Conservatorship can be wound up quickly and efficiently to allow Britney to take control of her life as she and Jamie desire.”
According to Variety, Jamie’s lawyers charge $1,200 per hour (£906).
The paperwork also claimed that Jamie ‘stepped up’ when Britney was ‘incapacitated’. It also said he ‘dedicated himself to protecting his daughter’s health’.
Jamie’s latest bid to receive money from Britney follows on from reports that he allegedly loaned £30,000 from the company he later hired to manage her estate when she was put under a conservatorship.

Britney’s former manager Lou Taylor, who owns Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group, made millions managing her finances after giving the large sum of cash to her dad Jamie before the conservatorship was put into place in 2008.
New York Times report that Jamie allegedly borrowed funds from Taylor while his daughter was hospitalised 13 years ago.
The publication claims days later, Jamie filed a petition in a California court to take control of Britney’s finances.
Earlier this year, when Britney’s conservatorship came to end she took to Instagram to share her joy.
“I love my fans so much it’s crazy!!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day!!!! Best day ever,” she wrote.
Her personal trainer boyfriend, Sam Asghari, wrote in a post: “History was made today. Britney is Free.”
