Ralf Rangnick is said to be making an attempt to bring Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland to Old Trafford, but Cristiano Ronaldo has raised doubts about the striker
Manchester United are ready to go big in their attempts to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford, according to reports.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is said to have opened talks with the Norwegian striker’s dad, former Premier League star Alf-Inge, who he is said to have built a relationship with during his time at RB Salzburg.
The Borussia Dortmund forward is reported to have a £65m release clause written into his contract which kicks in next summer.
And Haaland could be handed his dream shirt number thanks to Rangnick, while Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced doubts over the striker.
And with Rangnick hoping to address the Red Devils’ midfield problems in next month’s January transfer window, his first XI could change quite a bit over the coming weeks.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United headlines.
Rangnick’s midfield overhaul
Manchester United have been strongly linked with two players as Ralf Rangnick plans to overhaul the club’s midfield in next month’s January transfer window.
Ralf Rangnick is said to be keen to secure the signatures of both players, and their arrivals could allow the interim United boss to mix-up his tactics a little more in the second half of the season.
There are at least three new ways the Red Devils could line up if the new signins do arrive at Old Trafford, and Mirror Football has taken a look at them.
Haaland could get dream number
Erling Haaland could be handed his dream shirt number if he does sign for Manchester United – all thanks to a decision that’s been made by Ralf Rangnick.
According to Manchester Evening News, Rangnick is making a huge play for the Borussia Dortmund forward, who he knows from their time together at RB Salzburg.
And one of the selloing points of joining at Old Trafford could well be the shirt number Haaland could be handed if he does sign for the club.
It’s one that could be vacated thanks to a high-profile departure in next month’s transfer window.
Man United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has previously raised doubts about Erling Haaland.
While Haaland himself has previously revealed that CR7 is his idol, Ronaldo has previously spoken about what his Norwegian counterpart must do to reach the same levels he’s enjoyed during his illustrious career.
The Portuguese international also offered his advice as he pointed out the one thing that seperates the good players from those who are considered truly great.
