Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight chances clarified by Frank Warren after Twitter claims

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury could be set to meet in the ring in 2022 with talks over a rescheduled fight confirmed.

Fury was forced to pull out of their fight earlier this month, with Tyron Woodley taking his place. Paul went on to defeat the former UFC fighter via an emphatic knockout.

Scans revealed that Fury had a broken rib, as well as suffering with a bacterial chest infection for four weeks – leaving him with difficulties breathing and failing to be medically cleared to fight.

Paul made a number of jibes towards Fury on fight night against Woodley, wearing a T-shirt which read “this could have you been you Tommy” and wearing a Union Jack robe on the way to the ring.

Paul had also been critical of Fury’s handling of the build-up, accusing the Manchester boxer of a lack of promotion from his end before pulling out.

While Paul has said he is looking for other opponents going forward, the YouTuber-turned-boxer still certainly has the Brit on his mind, tweeting about a potential fight earlier this week.

Boxing promoter Frank Warren has revealed that talks are underway and he remains hopeful of a potential date in 2022.

Warren said: “Look, we want to get the fight on. Tommy wants to get the fight on.

“We have been in touch, his management team have been talking to us and hopefully we can resurrect it and get it on.

“Tommy wants it and for the both of them – it’s a fight they both want and the public bought into it.”

Paul claimed on Twitter that his management team had not been contacted by the Furys or Warren ahead of a potential rescheduling.

But Warren moved quickly to respond, confirming that he had spoken with the American’s camp and challenged Paul to take the fight.

He said: “He needs to check with his team – because I guarantee that talks were going on.

“Jake Paul is a brilliant promoter, you can’t knock him – he’s in the top three in the world as a promoter and as a seller.”
