Man seriously hurt after ‘large scale rammy’ in Hamilton on New Year’s Day sparking police probe

A man has been arrested in connection with a large scale disturbance which left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Dean Crescent in Hamilton at around 5.45am on Saturday, January 1.

A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses reported a heavy police presence in the area throughout the day as a house was cordoned off.

Specialist forensics officers were also spotted looking for evidence and taking photographs inside a property.

A 37-year-old was arrested but has been released pending further enquiries.

A statement from Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to reports of a large scale disturbance which resulted in a man suffering serious injuries at Dean Crescent, Hamilton about 5.45am on Saturday, 1 January, 2021.

“The 35-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

“A 37-year-old man was arrested and released pending further enquiries.”
