Teen rushed to hospital following ‘serious assault’ outside flats in Scots town

A teenager has been taken to hospital after being attacked outside a block of flats in a West Lothian town.

The 18-year-old male was seriously assaulted by another man outside Louburn flats on Main Street in Blackridge, west of Bathgate.

He was treated for his injuries at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and has since been discharged.

Police are now appealing for information connected to the assault following the shocking incident, which took place between 7.30am and 7.45am on Saturday January 8.

The suspect is described as being white, in his early 20s, of slim build and with dark hair.

He was wearing dark clothing and was accompanied by another man and a woman around the time of the attack.

Officers are carrying out local enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, but have asked any members of the public to contact them directly if they have any information that could assist them.

Detective Sergeant Ross Collett, of Livingston CID, said: “Although this attack happened early in the morning, I am sure there would have been people about who saw what happened.

“If you have any information that will assist our investigation, then please call Police Scotland via 101 and quote reference number 0753 of Saturday, 8 January 2022.

“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The assault comes as Lothian cops continue to probe an attempted fire-raising at a property in Bathgate.
