Boris Johnson’s future hangs in the balance today after he admitted attending a party in the Downing Street garden during the first covid lockdown in 2020.
Johnson insisted he thought the party was work-related, but said he recognised “with hindsight I should have sent everyone back inside”.
He said an inquiry headed by senior official Sue Gray was examining the situation but accepted “there were things we simply did not get right and I must take responsibility”.
Yesterday, the Scottish Government announced that 21 people had died from covid in Scotland in the last 24-hour period.
In that same time 7,606 Scots tested positive for the virus.
There are currently 1,537 people in hospital confirmed to have Covid with 59 being treated in intensive care.
