‘Telegraph readers have been incredible – their generosity has been astounding’

“We’re so grateful to all the Telegraph readers who have generously donated to Alzheimer’s Society. Money raised from The Telegraph Christmas appeal will help fund crucial research and provide desperately needed support for people affected by dementia. Alzheimer’s Society’s support services have been a lifeline for thousands through the pandemic, being used more than six million times since March 2020. But the impact of the pandemic is still being felt and our services are needed now more than ever. Thanks to Telegraph readers, we can reach even more people, so no one has to face dementia alone.”

As schools return to a semblance of pre-Covid normality, young people are still reeling from the pandemic which has robbed them of contact with friends and chances to socialise.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is honoured to have been a part of The Telegraph Christmas Appeal 2021,” says Ruth Marvel, CEO of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. “The Covid pandemic has been devastating for so many young people – they’ve lost out on essential education, been deprived of vital social connections and experienced a crisis in mental health. And, as we look ahead, they face spiralling living costs and the toughest employment market for a generation. But despite all this, we know that young people’s potential is limitless and over the past two years we have seen, first-hand, what young people are capable of, even in the toughest situations.”
