Elton John’s terror as plane has failure at 10,000ft and makes emergency landing

Elton John’s private plane has had to make an emergency landing following a terrifying engine emergency at 10,000ft.

The rockstar’s jet was forced to abort the landing after two failed attempts when winds reached an alarming 80mph.

Fire engines raced to the runway when the third attempt was finally executed less than an two hours after the singer and his entourage had left that morning to fly to New York.

The aircraft suffered from a hydraulic failure about one hour into the flight which left about 10.20am from the airport.

This meant that the plane had to U-turn while approaching the southern coast of Ireland, according to The Sun.

Photographs obtained by the publication show emergency crews at Farnborough Airport, Hants and Sir Elton stepping down off the plane and into the rainy weather.

A witness told the publication: “The jet was being buffeted and couldn’t land. It was horrible to see.”

A plumber, who was working when he saw the plane, said: “The terrible weather and epic gusts made it almost impossible to land. Two attempts to touch down failed.

“The plane was being buffeted and couldn’t make it. The aircraft’s nose was far too vertical. The plane was descending and was halfway along the runway when it gave up trying to hit the tarmac. It soared back in the air.”

It apparently took three times before the plane was able to land.

Sir Elton was due to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

It comes a month after he had to cancel two concerts after testing positive for coronavirus.

He is fully vaccinated and only experienced mild symptoms.

At the time, a statement was released saying: “It is with great regret that the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour dates in Dallas set for Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 must be postponed due to Elton recently testing positive for COVID-19.

“Fortunately, Elton is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is experiencing only mild symptoms. Fans should hold on to their tickets as they will be honoured at the rescheduled dates to be announced soon.”

It continued: “Elton and the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour look forward to returning to the stage shortly.”

The Mirror has contacted Elton’s representatives for comment.
